The local season runs roughly from late May into June, sometimes stretching a bit depending on how the spring unfolds — a warm April pulls it earlier, a cold snap pushes it back. Any single peony plant flowers for only a week or two, and the whole local season lasts just a few weeks. That brevity is exactly why gardeners and florists get excited when the buds finally crack open.
